Tay Boon Chuan, Aspen Re Head of Singapore Branch, attended the 21st Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) November 3-6, 2025, where he spoke with Insurance Asia News and AM Best TV about market conditions for Asia and Aspen Reinsurance’s growth strategy as the company heads towards 1/1 renewal season.
Boon sounded optimistic in his assessment stating that this year looks to be another solid year for the reinsurers, unless something unforeseen occurs during the last few months of 2025. He said: “This strong performance, along with the resulting inflow of reinsurer capacity and appetite for growth, will no doubt be a key talking point during year-end discussions.”
Boon also noted that areas like Thailand could be interesting this 1/1 and that Singapore is an example of a growing profile in Asia, and there also could be opportunities in such key lines as Property, Casualty, Marine and Agriculture. He said: “Asia is a wide geographical expanse, and the reinsurance buying habits remain as varied as there are local nuances. But a sound reinsurance structure, along with clear contractual language, should remain cornerstones, regardless of the size and needs of each cedant or territory.”
