We are excited to announce that Jenny Kane, Aspen Group Chief Risk Officer, won Risk Management Leader of the Year at the CIR Magazine’s Risk Management Awards, which took place on November 20, 2025, at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.
For more than a decade, the CIR Awards have been celebrating excellence in risk management, recognizing the best people, products and programs in the sector.
Jenny’s award is in recognition for her efforts in advancing the field of risk management and its principles, and for her exceptional achievements and the impact it has made on the practice of risk management.
Jenny said: “I am truly honored to receive this award. I firmly believe that a strong and influential risk function is critical for running a successful insurance business, and that our discipline is more important than ever in today’s fast-moving and interconnected risk landscape.”
Since joining Aspen in August 2022, Jenny has transformed Aspen’s risk function into a strategic enabler, highlighted this year by her pivotal role in Aspen’s IPO listing on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2025. Her leadership embeds risk across the business, champions emerging threats like climate litigation and sets new standards in enterprise risk.
She continues to redefine the CRO role every day and inspires the next generation of risk leaders. Jenny said: “Roles in risk are fulfilling and varied and they offer good opportunities for development. I hope events like this provide encouragement to others to pursue a career in risk management in the insurance industry.”
Ashley Buegel, Aspen Operational Risk Analyst, was also shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year, and the Aspen Risk Team was shortlisted in the Climate Risk Award category.
Congratulations to Jenny, Ashley and the entire Risk Team. This is a wonderful accomplishment and testament to the strength and skills of Aspen’s leaders and their teams.
