An example of this is our long-standing partnership with the Adara Group, an international development organisation, working with communities and local partners to promote the well-being of children and families in Uganda. This is a truly unique partnership due to the depth of engagement in the local communities and the way the charity has become embedded within our corporate culture.
Aspen has donated almost $3 million to Adara since the partnership began in 2007. In addition, our employees run countless fundraising events for Adara and have raised just over $1 million. These donations have been used to support the Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda and fund the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Maternity Ward, the HIV Programme, and the Community Based Health Care Programme.
Aspen’s support has helped generate the following positive impacts:
- There has been a 13% increase in survival for all babies in the NICU since 2005.
- More than 3,000 women are admitted to the maternity ward each year and over 23,000 have received care in the ward since Aspen began supporting in 2007.
- Since 2012, more than 35,000 infants have been immunised against deadly diseases through the community based healthcare programme.
- Since 2007, Aspen has helped Adara support more than 9,000 people living with HIV with treatment costs and hospital admissions if they become ill.
Every year we run the Adara Ambassador programme, where we send employees from across the business to experience the Adara projects in Uganda firsthand. This allows us to see the positive impact our support has and gives those who get involved the chance to relay feedback to the rest of business.
Our interest in the arts has evolved with our business and we are passionate about supporting artists whose creativity and innovation are an integral part of their work.
The Aspen Art Collection
Contemporary art is a natural extension of the way Aspen’s business works. Great underwriters are innovative and creative; they have to be able to respond to constantly changing environmental and economic risks. Our art collection is a response to these changing environments. It has grown from a small offering to a much larger collection that articulates mutual ideas of perspective and innovation; of seeing the world and its risks in new ways and responding with new solutions.

The Aspen Online Art Award
The Aspen Online Art Award was launched in 2013 in association with the Contemporary Art Society. Aspen's involvement with the award and online art, a rapidly emerging field within contemporary art, represents its commitment to cutting-edge creative practice. The award supports leading emerging artists working in online art by commissioning an artwork from the winning entrant.
Aspen is proud to be Principal Partner of the Almeida Theatre in London. As Principal Partner, Aspen aids the theatre's community and learning programme, Almeida Participation, which runs regular sessions for young people to build confidence, creativity and social skills through projects that respond to the Almeida’s main stage programme. www.almeida.co.uk
